A wireless network. history
A wireless network is a computer network, in which data is transmitted using radio signals, instead of cables. The history of wireless networks goes hand in hand without the discovery of technology, such as the radio. The history of wireless networking departs, as far back as the 1800's with the beginning of radio waves. Its beginning of more technology grew during the years and extended to what we currently communicated.
A Germany born physicist named Heinrich Rudolf Herz produced his first radio wave in 1888. Some researchers under the guidance of N. Abramson, at Hawaii University, developed the first "packet-switched" radio communication network called "Aloha net" in 1971. Aloha net was the first wireless local area network (WLAN). The first WLAN was not much capable, but it was a large discovery by them. The Aloha net WLAN was included seven computers that communicated to each other.
In 1972, Aloha net linked with the WLAN system Arpanet on the mainland. This length of link was ground breaking in telecommunications between computers. In 1990, the 802.11 Working Group was established to work towards a WLAN standard for all computers, it can communicate each other. In 1997, IEEE 802.11 was established as the standard data communication format for wireless local area networks. This technology continues to grow today. Governments and large corporations are continuously looking out for the latest and fastest standard to work on wireless network.
Wireless networks have continued to expand and their uses have grown-up significantly. Mobile phones are part of massive wireless network systems. People use phones for daily communicate with one another. Sending or receiving information abroad is possible through wireless network systems using satellites and other signals to communicate across the world. The wireless network also used in emergency services such as the police department utilizes wireless networks to communicate important information quickly.
People and businesses use wireless networks to send or receive data quickly to collaborates, whether it is in a small office building or across the world. The wireless networks are as an inexpensive. It is rapid way to be connected to the Internet in countries and regions where the telecom infrastructure is poor or there is a lack of resources, as in most developing countries. Wireless networks are usually slower than the directly connected through an Ethernet cable. A wireless network is more susceptible, because anyone can try to crack into a network-broadcasting signal.
There are many networks providing Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP)- security systems that have been established to be susceptible to invasion. Although, WEP does obstruct some interloper, the security problems have because some businesses to stick with wired networks until security can be enhanced. The WPA - Wi-Fi Protected Access is another type of security for wireless networks. WPA provides more security than a WEP security set up in wireless networks. The use of firewalls will help with security breaches, which can help to fix security problems in some wireless networks that are more susceptible.
